On the evening of November 23rd, Chinese traditional music experiential class was held in the Boya Hall of Guangbiao building. The activity was jointly organized by International Students Union of SJTU, School of Mechanical Engineering International Students Union of SJTU, and Dixiao Chinese Instrument Association of SJTU. More than 40 international students participated in the activity.

At the beginning, students from Dixiao Chinese Instrument Association of SJTU played the Chinese classic folk music "Jasmine", warmly welcoming the international students.

This activity was mainly divided into two parts, the performances, and interactive experiences. First of all, students of Dixiao Chinese Instrument Association of SJTU introduced the YangChin, Pipa, LiuChin, Erhu, Flute and other Chinese traditional musical instruments to the international students in English, covering the history, structure, the methods and skills of performance, and other aspects of the instruments. Then, they played the classical composition of each instrument one by one, including <Festival in The Tian Mountain>, <Spring comes to Yi River> and <A New Song of Herdsmen> and so on. The students at the scene were so impressed that they picked up their mobile phones to take photos and videos.

After the introduction, international students went to the instruments they were interested in for interactive experience. Under the guidance of the students from Dixiao Chinese Instrument Association of SJTU, international students experienced the instruments by themselves and learned the methods and skills of performance.

This Chinese traditional music experiential class provided a platform for the international students to exchange culture and experience culture, not only letting the international students get close contact with Chinese traditional music, understand Chinese traditional music, and feel the charm of Chinese traditional culture, but also enhancing their understanding of Chinese traditional culture. This activity built a bridge between the international students and Chinese traditional culture, and spread excellent Chinese traditional culture to all parts of the world through the international students.
