Abstract:
Microcombustion study at Tohoku University based on the idea of excess enthalpy combustion is introduced. “Flame chromatography” using a micro flow reactor with a prescribed temperature profile has been applied for examining ignition and combustion characteristics of various fuels including hydrocarbons, alcohols, syngas and even weakly reacting refrigerant. Flame dynamics as well as validation and modification of reaction kinetics have been addressed by the present reactor. Recent studies using this method for stabilized cool flame, surrogate fuels for practical fuels and refrigerant are discussed.
